Jimi Hendrix
"Purple Haze"
One of the most influential guitarists of all time woke up the Rock world with his hit Purple Craze. In this song, I love the pausing and solos that Jimi does with the guitar. Some of the first electric guitar solos were performed by Jimi Hendrix and Its super cool to see how his rhythm ties in to the chord progressions as he plays the guitar. He kind of captures the audience with the melodic tone playing skill, and then he can change it up, so that he harmonizes with the rest of the band. Hes a very unique artist when comparing his music to others back in the sixties and seventies.
Another part that I love about his music is his ability to sing raspy and then light as a feather in this song. He plays with his fans emotions as well as brings diversity to rock and roll. Have you ever tried to change your voice from a belt to a falsetto in less than two seconds? its extremely difficult. The fact that Jimi Hendrix can do this with poise and control is pretty incredible. Purple haze has its own covers, and is still popular among Rock lovers today. This song has so many characteristics that make you just want to go accomplish something.
I think it is super cool how Jimi Hendrix had some of the first electric guitar solos. I like how you mention how he would capture his audiences with his playing skills and how he can change it up. It is cool how you talked about his guitar skills but also his voice and the other musical aspects of the song. It makes me want to go listen to it!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your blog just by how you described the song and just describing Jimi Hendrix in general. I agree with you on the fact that he does have a very unique sound comparing to the other music in the sixties. I also loved how you describe his voice as he sings.
