Weekly blog #11 Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana--- Cael Rowley

Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana     I love this song by Nirvana! I never have been a fan of metal music, but there is cool draw to the sound that attracts listener, and makes you want to go do a backflip!!! I love the drum solos in this song that adds a lot of base. It sets a good metal mood. The drummer also uses a technique to go ballistic before the chorus to really hype the audience in the last second. Its cool how the band uses a soft pop sound in their lyrics, but then he changes automatically back to metal to set the stage. Its a great song to enjoy with friends, and its title really is spot on the identity of who this song is really for.     Another aspect of the song is how affected peoples lives. It really gave the "I don't care about anything" vibe. Young adults in the nineties were a rebellious generation, and this song fully embraced what they were about. It talks about this message in the final verses of this song. How cool is it that music is...

weekly blog #10 Thriller by Michael Jackson -- Cael Rowley

Thriller  Michael Jackson           Thriller was an Iconic song that became a hit for not just a decade, but until present day times. Every year around Halloween, it is the most played pop song in the U.S. One of the reasons that this song has raised over the year is because of the unique synthesizing and voice overs during the song. It gives a spooky vibe, but also adds unique musical concepts that were new for the listeners listening. My favorite part of this song is personally the intro before Michael starts singing. Its a groovy rhythm that catches the attention faster than a lot of people.          Also an important part of this song is the fact that Michael Jackson is singing it. He was considered the King of Pop during his time, and in the prime of his career is when Thriller was made. He transformed the way of performing for a lot of people, and so when Thriller was introduced, people wanted to see the king perform...

Weekly Blog #9 "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" -Willie Nelson by Cael Rowley

Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain  by Willie Nelson     What a great song!! So I know its country, but I noticed that this song is one of  the only slower paced songs there are in the 60's. Why is that? I think a theme that happens in the 60's is the music industry is starting to get more advanced, and starting to explore the outer limits of music. We hear so much of all the different types of genres that were expanding, while during this time, country music was always staying popular. The only difference with country was that it continued with no growth, so it wasn't listened like it could have been.  This song brings out the peaceful life of those who still wanted to live in peace during a chaotic time. The solo banjo playing, with just a brass drum playing brings out a peaceful soul to the audience. I loved how the song died out in the end, almost like its an end of a ballad. It gives it that peaceful feel which I love. Willie Nelson grew to become a famous...

Weekly blog #8 Hotel California- The Eagles by Cael Rowley

Hotel California The Eagles       This is one of m favorite songs, but as I listened to it a little more deeply, there were some things I heard that made me appreciate it very more. "Hotel California" is a mysterious song that talks about the bad parts of the city life, and kind of was one of the first songs to talk about the hard pour lifestyle. Very important in today's world.      But one thing that is super intriguing, was how they used their instruments. They had some pretty awesome guitar solos throughout the song, that were super spontaneous. Especially the end where they ended the song in a solo rather a vocal fade out. I appreciated how they harmonized with their instruments too. Most harmonization happens within vocal performances, because its just easier. But the Eagles played the melody and harmony so in seek, that it was like the instruments were the true singers. It was a good job, and there's not much I did't like.      ...
