 Hotel California

The Eagles

This is one of m favorite songs, but as I listened to it a little more deeply, there were some things I heard that made me appreciate it very more. "Hotel California" is a mysterious song that talks about the bad parts of the city life, and kind of was one of the first songs to talk about the hard pour lifestyle. Very important in today's world.

But one thing that is super intriguing, was how they used their instruments. They had some pretty awesome guitar solos throughout the song, that were super spontaneous. Especially the end where they ended the song in a solo rather a vocal fade out. I appreciated how they harmonized with their instruments too. Most harmonization happens within vocal performances, because its just easier. But the Eagles played the melody and harmony so in seek, that it was like the instruments were the true singers. It was a good job, and there's not much I did't like.

How interesting would it have been in the solo vocal parts, to have each band member sing his/her own vocal solo? I wonder if it would of added something even more rad, or if it would of ruined the song. Something to think about.

  1. "Hotel California" is a song that I feel like everyone has heard before, but after listening to their concert version in class, it was way more fun then I remember it being. I also don’t think I ever really got the meaning of the song, but I totally understand why this song was such a hit during this time and continues to be a classic!

  2. Haha. I’m noticing a large quantity of people choosing hotel California. Which is totally understandable. Hotel California is a remarkable song and I think it’s extremely interesting how you had ideas to make it even better. Really shows you got invested into the song. Unlike some other blogs I’ve seen. Well done!
